Easiest fix in the meantime: think of it as shouting your driver a coffee or a cold one for the next twenty minutes in your mess — not a fine, just fair.
Standard fares assume you and a normal bag. For anything bulkier, offer extra upfront. Drivers can take it, counter, or leave it for the next one.
